Throughout his career, Thomas Roese has demonstrated a passion for industrial scenes. As he said about his work, "The grit of my hometown, Cleveland, Ohio, ows from my gritty, graphite pencil. So many images for my drawings are inspired by the industrial history of Cleveland’s smoky Flats, where
steel mills, chemical plants, railroads, and river-traveling ore boats compete for attention."
Roese often refers to creating art as a symphony of his materials as he composes the complex structural elements of architecture with his pencil. Descriptive through naturalistic, abstracted structures, the stage is set with pattern, color, texture, and lighting.
