| Key E. Wenrick was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Wenrick graduated from Ohio University with a BFA, and achieved her MFA from Columbia University. She attended classes at the University of Alberta, the Cleveland School of Art and Western Reserve University.
Wenrick began her teaching career at Old Central High School in 1918 and transferred to McKinley in 1924. She retired from teaching from McKinley High School in 1959.
Upon her death in 1960 Key left her art collection of seventeen prints to the Institute (Canton Museum of Art).
