Rosemary Eugenia Lawton-Thomas was born in 1919 in Mulberry, Indiana. She was the daughter of Charles Lawton and Pearl Marguerite Gill. She married Robert F. Thomas on July 27, 1943.
Lawton-Thomas was a graduate of Herron School of Art, Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Ball State in Muncie, Indiana as an art major. She was a member and past president of the Indiana Artists Club Inc., charter and signature member of the Water Color Society of Indiana, member and instructor at The Indianapolis Art Center, member of the Hoosier Salon, and a member of the National Museum of Woman in the Arts, Washington DC. She was selected for publication in the "Who's Who of American Woman: 2000-2001. Rosemary was head artist in display for LS Ayres & Co. freelance visual communications for published advertising and interior design, both private and commercial, and she taught art for over fifty years.
