A Cleveland native, Christopher Pekoc is largely self-taught, with the exception of one year of study at Kent State University and several high school art classes. He has concentrated his interest in the area of collage and drawing, experimenting in the medias since 1964. One area of particular interest is his work with graphite wash; a method of applying graphite in liquid form with a brush. In concentrating his efforts in this field, Pekoc has developed a sensitive style with a strong sense of design.
Pekoc states, “each work – be it painting or drawing begins as a small collage composed of fragmented images clipped from magazine photographs. My work is basically autobiographical. The individual fragmented images become personalities I interact with. Each work chronicles a portion of my life’s experiences, many of them being of an extremely personal nature.”
