Edith Hogen Peck (1884-1957) was an art teacher in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended the Cleveland School of Art and was known for her oil paintings and prints. Her realist style lent itself to the landscapes and still lifes that she created. Edith’s son, James Peck, also became an artist because of her influence. Together they became one of Cleveland’s most prominent artistic families, the aptly named “painting Pecks.” Ironically, Edith’s other son, Robert T. Peck, married an artist named Miriam. With this marriage, Miriam joined the “painting Pecks.” All three were frequently awarded prizes at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s annual May Show, and they exhibited together at Cleveland’s Ten-Thirty Gallery in 1946.
