David Kuntzman is a native from Alliance, Ohio, and a graduate of Mount Union College. Kuntzman’s work is generally concerned with the contrast between the real and the abstract. Various paintings of his appear to be peeled back to reveal the canvas, or a painting is torn in a contemporary version of the trompe l’oeil tradition. They literally fool the eye.
Kuntzman’s "#102" painting combines abstract elements (a grid-work with a progression of colors from light blue to dark blue and from light red to maroon) with realistic elements (the grid-work peels back to reveal the white background).
