George Kozmon grew up in Cleveland but lived in Switzerland for several years as a child, where his love of snow, ice, and high altitudes was born. He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art and built his career through exhibitions in academic venues, galleries, and museums. He has broadened his experience with teaching (CWRU, CIA, CMA, Orange Art Center), owning and operating a fine art gallery (Thrive and Artspace), curating, and by being the Director of the Cain Park Art Festival for over two decades.
Kozmon's architectural pieces are an attempt at bridging the gap between realism and abstraction, and force the viewer to see something that they're constantly surrounded by in a new way. Scale has always been important to his images, and he wants the viewer to feel a sense of awe. "Impressions: Europe #26" is successful in this aim as the building seems to tower over us as we look up at it.
