Jody Klein was born in 1931 to Esther and Nathan Wollins in Akron, Ohio. She attended Northwestern University, Ohio State University, and received her B.S. in painting and M.A. degree primarily in the area of printmaking from Kent State University. During her education she married Richard Klein.
Her work, which is focused on fabric sculpture and assemblage techniques, has appeared in local shows. Her talents have been passed on to others in the area, as she has taught at the Akron Art Institute, Buchtel High School and Old Trail School. Klein has also worked at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine, Arrowmount School of Arts and Crafts in Tennessee, and Boston University.
She remained an Akron resident until 1974 when she relocated to Boston.
