Born in 1915, Robert King attended Ohio State in 1934 and graduated with a BFA in 1939. King studied art in Europe upon graduation. By 1945 King had spent two years in the military and had earned his MFA and began teaching at Ohio State University.
King traveled through Ohio in the late 1940s rendering rural and urban scenes primarily in pastel. In 1950, King had his first major exhibition of pastels at the Columbus Museum of Art. Upon retirement he and his wife, Ruth, moved to Delaware, Ohio and took up residence in a house of her design.
King passed away in 2001.
