An Ohio native born in 1929, Davis is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, Ohio Watercolor Society, and the New York Society of Illustrators.
Bob Davis is primarily a representational artist, whose creative preference is water-based medium. Davis’ work spans both the commercial and fine art fields.
Davis interprets is own work when he wrote: “My painting ‘Contradiction?’ interprets the Amish lifestyle admittedly through the eyes of an outsider. The low-key somber mood and faint boxes around the heads of each of the boys depict a degree of isolation, symbolizing their separatist faith. The dark background is an excellent foil for the hex sign and the white dove. The dove represents the spirit and the hex sign superstition…hence the title Contradictions?”.
